I pushed the pram down the hill and across the recreation ground
Little Lillea-Ray was snug inside and never made a sound.
I proudly showed her off to people as we went
I told them just how our little one had been heaven sent
I called to show her off to my friend along the way
Ah! what a pretty thing was what she had to say
Then off we trotted home again and she was ready for a bottle
The only time she cried today and that was at full throttle
So fed, changed and burped I laid her down to have another sleep
A day I will remember and more memories to keep.

Well they had some lovely chicken cobs and cakes for after, and I have been feeding and nursing little Lillea again most of the afternoon. I think maybe my daughter is breaking me in gently for when she goes back to uni next week and I am looking after the baby . I will be having her for one whole and two half days for a few weeks
Anyway we had a nice pleasant afternoon chatting, watching a bit of tv, teaching the girls to knit .
And then somehow I realised I had said yes to taking them swimming tomorrow, not just them, but Dawn and Rays two as well. Mmmm let me see how did I manage to do that .
Mum is coming too but can't go in the water yet after having the baby so she is going to sit in the cafe and watch, now who got the best deal there then .

Went to the dentist first thing only to find my suspision was right and I Have yet another abscess so am again on a course of antibiotics and then will have the offending tooth taken out next week. She did offer to see about seeing if it could be saved but it is already loose it would only be prolonging the inevitable so out it will come.

I picked up my two grandaughters from Dawn and Rays (to give them a break as Ray is suffering from a lot of pain) and met my other daughter and her two girls and the baby and we spent a good couple of hours at an indoor playcentre. I even got to cuddle little Lillea-Ray*ahhhhhhhh* The girls had a great time running around and climbing and sliding.

Then to finish their day we took them to KFC and they ate every bit.

However when Marian (la-spice) came to stay and we went to see her friend Phil in Abigails Party at the Lace Market I was quite taken with the place. The atmosphere, the people and of course the acting.
Anyway last night I went back to watch a production of *Kindertransport*, my youngest daughter came with me as she was interested to see it, she had studied it as part of her drama G.C.S.E. and had had to write a monologue in the style of the play.
It was performed in the round, we were right on the front row of a set of two rows and at times the actors were nearly on our laps, how hard must that be, I have done a lot of am dram and of course my daughter has acted, but to be right there amongst your audience must be so nerve-racking. However it was well worth going, the 14year old girl playing the lead was marvelous I am sure we will see more of her. The cast in all did a tremendous job and it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
I will be going back

We did some gentle motoring up and down the river near Stratford we were not intending to go through any locks as we were not sure if enough of us were fit to do it, however Ray wanted to try one so we went through one of the easier ones. We took it steady with Ray and Dawn doing the work on top grandad (ex) and nannie (me) on the boat with the girls and doing the manouvering. It went well and Ray thoroughly enjoyed the fact he had been able to do it. We sailed a little further then turned round and repeated the process on the way back, just as we got through the lock the second time a longboat came up behind us, a family had hired it for the weekend, they shouted to Ray and asked him if he could help them go through the lock as they were new to it. So Dawn and Ray helped with the Lock all of a sudden I heard Ray shouting *let go of the rope* and he made a dive pushing a young girl out of the way and grabbing the rope to their boat, he skidded and was jarred and I thought he was going to go in himself. My ex and Dawn went to help and luckily all ended well.
What had happend was the family on the boat mum and dad stayed on the boat with one daughter and grandad and other daughter who was only about 11 and who had taken off her lifejacket. They hadn't a clue at the force the water filling the lock would make, the boat was pushed about nearly putting the girl on the boat off and pulling the girl on the side holding the rope not fastened off the side. If Ray hadn't dived and made a grab and held on tight I am sure one or other of the girls would have ended up in the lock and that could have been that. They were very grateful but off course they couldn't have known just how much effort that had taken him.
Yesterday he spent the day in bed having extra morphine and trying to recover. He still enjoyed the day and was glad he had managed to go and so I am sure are the family on the longboat.

Anyway just a few photos of the day all of which click to enlarge.

I tidied some family graves as I don't get down very often and I had a trip to Kew Gardens. When I was small we lived just around the corner to Kew Gardens and most Sundays and holidays we would go there my sisters and I enjoyed putting the tuppence and later the threepenny peice in the turnstile and going in to feed the ducks, walk round the hot house or just play amongst the trees. Imagine my horror when we had to pay £13 each pounds to get in and £6 to park the car, no I'm not a cheapskate, and I know these places need money to keep them going but how an earth could families today be able to let their children enjoy the pleasures of the gardens as we did on a regular basis. It is still a lovely place but I am afraid the price somewhat spoilt it for me perhaps because it took away my childhood dreams I don't know or perhaps just I was sad for children missing out on the fun I had. My fondest memory was lining the pathway with thousands of other schoolchildren waving my little union jack as the Queen drove past waving at us on her way to open a new hot house. Ah!!

Anyway here are the photos, the tree top walkway was not there when I was small and it is somewhat unerving to be up that high and swaying in the wind, like being on a boat. The crocus like flowers are saffron and were growing everywhere apart from that and having more restaurants and shops it was much as I remembered it.

After taking her to my home and letting her settle in her room we spent the rest of the afternoon chatting before going for a delicious Indian meal in the evening, we chatted and laughed until we were so tired we had to get to bed.
Next day I had an appointment in town so we went in early on the tram and once I'd done what I had to we window shopped and then went and had a pub lunch and wine of course , We did buy some seamless knickers in our favourite designer shop *Primark* (pronounced Preemark of course <img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0">)
Thursday we (I am ashamed to admit) sat until gone noon in our jamas, looking at all the goings on on the blog, drinking coffee and of course laughing and chatting. Then we thought perhaps we should get dressed and go out for a pub lunch .In the evening we went to the Lace Market Theatre in town to see Abigails Party and had a lovely time.
Friday my daughter was taken in to hospital to start off the labour but due to being short staffed it didn't happen, but we waited about all day just in case, but of course we just had to go out for another pub lunch <img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0">.
Saturday we were off to Bedford to see Linda in Scrooge the Musical it was lovely meeting her and making yet another blogfriend and the show was superb. In the evening Marian and I were taken out for another Indian meal by my *friend* Colin, they hit it off and before long all three of us were in fits of laughter and having a thoroughly good time.
Sunday, well what can I say that was special, I am afraid I had to leave Marian to look after herself but it was of course for a special reason as I was at the birth of my new grandaughter. In the evening both Marian and I were invited to the other grandparents house for a drink and some food which made a pleasant end to a lovely day.
Monday too quickly arrived and it was time to take Marian to her mothers and say goodbye. However we had one last meet to do together we stopped off and saw Isadora we had a lovely time and chatted away for ages, oh! and had some lovely battenburg cake <img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0">. But all too soon we had to be on our way and I got Marian safely to her mothers, had a swift cuppa and then said my goodbyes and set off home.
It was so quiet when I got back even the dogs were looking to see if Marian was behind me when I came in. I had a truly lovely week, Marian is superb company and I really hope it is not too long before we get together again.
Yesterday we travelled to see another blog friend in a show at Bedford and had another lovely time we enjoyed the singing in Scrooge the Musical and Marian even had mulled wine and her first mince pie
Last night we had another Indian meal and thoroughly enjoyed it whilst laughing so much I got hiccups.

Anyway baby still not here although waters broken and pains getting stronger so tonight we might be able to open the champagne (I hope)

Heroes and Heroines

Heroes and Heroines can be big or can be small
The biggest Heroes ever are those you least expect of all
They walk among us daily and get on with their lives
Whilst helping those around them friends, lovers maybe wives
They are our countries carers, those who there whole life spend
Looking after others, caring, nursing or just being a good friend
They go from day to day not thinking of their needs
Not even realising that their actions are true good deeds
So to all our unsung Heroes and Heroines too
I say carry on with pride we are so proud of you

I have been to Richmond today to give my dads grave a bit of a tidy, then went shopping in Twickenham, it's very nostalgic.
Don't know what to do tonight as I'm at a bit of a loose end. Tomorrow I am going to see my sister in law in the morning and then go and watch BRENTFORD play in the afternoon.
On Sunday I will be meeting a friend from school who I havn't seen for about 30years and we are going to Hampton Court so I am having a nice little weekend away.
The calm before the storm as they say

Hope you all have a lovely weekend

But so very sad because for Ray the chemo is not working and the cancer is taking hold, I do not know what to say to them.
Anyway yesterday I had a thorough hospital check up because it was thought I might have had a mini stroke, they were wonderful I had neck scan, brain scan (yes I do have one ), ecg plus bloods etc and the verdict I'M FIT.
So they have put my little *episode* down to the stress at the moment which I must admit is a lot and so apart from that and the arthritus I'm A1.Which is good to know as I can't afford to be ill.
