Ray (son in law) came home from hospital on Fri and was rushed back in early yesterday after a night where my daughter and I spent holding him while he was in terrible pain.
We called the NHS direct and was told a doctor would be sent to assess 2 hours and another phone call later still no doctor so I called 999 for an ambulance as he could'nt breath and eyes were rolling, they came promptly and 2 lovely ladies did all necassary tests and were about to administer morphine when the doctor turned up. He seemed a little put out that the ambulance was there and was if not actually rude very 'snotty' and condescending.
Hedid not seem to care that Ray had only just had major surgery, said it was a urine infection (which yes it is partly) gave anti-biotics and an oral pain relief and sent the ambulance away (much to their surprise too).
We spent a night where he was in absolute agony, delirious and took 2 of us to comfort him. Eventually when my other daughter arrived she called an ambulance again and he was rushed in to hospital.
He has had scans, lots of morphine, no food in case it's more than just the infection (might need surgery) and tests and we are awaiting what's next.
That poor man went through a night of hell (along with my daughter) and in my opinion all because a doctor got arsey that we had called an ambulance because he had'nt arrived.
I am not a happy woman
