  • Inspite of the sad occasion had a good time.

Spent 2 nights in Bournemouth, the funeral went well and I enjoyed the break and catching up with relations. The Hotel I stayed in was right on the sea front so very nice.
Today as I set off back to Nottingham I saw the sign for Salisbury and on the spur of the moment decided to go there, even though it took me out of my way. I went to the Cathedral and managed to tag on to one of the free tours, the guide was extremely good and I spent a very interesting and informative afternoon.
I came home across country passing close to Lambourne and Newbury and passed through some pcturesque villages.
So yes inspite of the occasion have had a really nice time.

  • My Blog Friends Thank You

When I first started on this blog thought it would be just an occasional place to browse and put my poetry. How wrong I was I have made so many good friends on here virtual or otherwise and it has been a great help, your comments and words are all very much appreciated.
I am able to rant on here and though I am sure you get fed up with other peoples troubles the encouragements you send are truly valued. On here I can let my brave face drop a bit

I am a little worn today after spending yet another day with paramedics, ambulance men and at hospital (all who were brilliant I might add). I am also more than alittle worried about my daughter who has started having stress related chest pains and the grandaughters who are begining to show signs of it getting to them (very clingy and tearful). We are trying our best to give them as normal time as possible but watching daddy crying in pain on the bathroom floor and an ambulance rushing him away with lights flashing is not normal and must prey on their minds.

Anyway thank you for your comments and please keep writing, keep telling jokes, keep taking nice photo's, keep making me laugh at stupid thing's 'cos it don't 'alf help

  • Fingers crossed

Had a lovely day with the grandaughters today while Ray and Dawn went to see the surgeon.

The day was good but the news not so. Apparantly it was a more aggresive cancer than first thought and as they havnt got it all another op will be needed in Oct after this one has heald. More chemo too first.

The bad news is that it was in 8 out 9 lymph nodes so had spread more than suspected.

We are all keeping positive and supporting as much as we can but I can only imagine how my daughter and Ray are feeling.

    Life's a bitch ain't it?

  • Bad News

Have been away from the blog for a few days, as have been having a rest after getting the news we dreaded.
Ray's operation did not take away eneough to be sure the cancer won't return so he is going to have to have another to remove the last remaining bit of rectum.
The surgeon thought he had taken what was needed but on seeing the scan and test results post op he feels it would be wiser to remove some more.
We had all been sure that as they had taken so much away in the first op the results would be good and it was a shock to us all, but Ray was devistated, I can only describe the way he looked after the news as like a rabbit caught in headlights, petrified.
So we are now preparing ourselves for a longer round of hospital visits and childminding duties.

I am so proud of how my family are all pulling together.

  • Just as you think things are going the right way. .

Ray (son in law) came home from hospital on Fri and was rushed back in early yesterday after a night where my daughter and I spent holding him while he was in terrible pain.
We called the NHS direct and was told a doctor would be sent to assess 2 hours and another phone call later still no doctor so I called 999 for an ambulance as he could'nt breath and eyes were rolling, they came promptly and 2 lovely ladies did all necassary tests and were about to administer morphine when the doctor turned up. He seemed a little put out that the ambulance was there and was if not actually rude very 'snotty' and condescending.
Hedid not seem to care that Ray had only just had major surgery, said it was a urine infection (which yes it is partly) gave anti-biotics and an oral pain relief and sent the ambulance away (much to their surprise too).
We spent a night where he was in absolute agony, delirious and took 2 of us to comfort him. Eventually when my other daughter arrived she called an ambulance again and he was rushed in to hospital.
He has had scans, lots of morphine, no food in case it's more than just the infection (might need surgery) and tests and we are awaiting what's next.
That poor man went through a night of hell (along with my daughter) and in my opinion all because a doctor got arsey that we had called an ambulance because he had'nt arrived.
I am not a happy woman
