Took son in law for his radiotherapy appointment this afternoon and He took poorly half way there (sickness and diahorea) by the time we got to the hospital he was not at all well and they sent for the doctor who imediatley said they would be keeping him in. That was just by looking at him.
They were wonderful all the radiographers rallied fetching things for the doctor to take bloods, put in a canullar etc. One was due to go off duty but she wouldnt leave until she knew he had been got on a ward. They even pushed him there themselves so he didn't have to wait for a porter.
My daughter had taken their 2 daughters to ballet class and I didn't want to worry her while driving about, so I stayed until everything had been sorted and he was settled. He was dehydrated so needed saline, also anti biotics and aniti sickness. Hopefully once these have all kicked in he'll be out and able to start his chemo and radio fight again.
I am very tired and have had two glasses of red wine (so far) and looking forward to getting my pyjamas on.
But I was very impressed today by the speed, thoughtfulness and genuin caring of all the staff we encountered at Nottingham City Hospital.
