Took son in law for his radiotherapy appointment this afternoon and He took poorly half way there (sickness and diahorea) by the time we got to the hospital he was not at all well and they sent for the doctor who imediatley said they would be keeping him in. That was just by looking at him.
They were wonderful all the radiographers rallied fetching things for the doctor to take bloods, put in a canullar etc. One was due to go off duty but she wouldnt leave until she knew he had been got on a ward. They even pushed him there themselves so he didn't have to wait for a porter.
My daughter had taken their 2 daughters to ballet class and I didn't want to worry her while driving about, so I stayed until everything had been sorted and he was settled. He was dehydrated so needed saline, also anti biotics and aniti sickness. Hopefully once these have all kicked in he'll be out and able to start his chemo and radio fight again.
I am very tired and have had two glasses of red wine (so far) and looking forward to getting my pyjamas on.
But I was very impressed today by the speed, thoughtfulness and genuin caring of all the staff we encountered at Nottingham City Hospital.

Thank you so much it does mean a lot just sometimes to "off load".
My daughter is at the hospital at this minute so should know more soon.
Hopefully it is just a small blip that rehydration will put right.
Thank you for the thought of the lotus flower along with that I will go to church and light a candle.

yes, when the chips are down, i've always found nursing staff to be wonderful.
i'm sure most of the complaints stem from more routine treatments.
hope you all keep your strength up and you get better news soon.-

Hello Murphy,
I was saddened to read your post. We can only offer you support from afar but I am thinking of you. I meditate every day at some time and I am on a journey to find Nirvana. I have a Lotus flower that is of major importance in our journey so it will hold a special place on the small table that is dedicated to to my meditation. (I practice Buddhism) I will put some time aside for you during my meditation. Please hang on and support those that need it. I look forward to your comments that treatment has restarted and there is some light back in your life. If you need to "offload" or just chat we are here for you.
All the words written are from the heart and chosen carefully.
Be strong
